Meditation students ask me how to overcome the tug of the various discomforts in their bodies, in order to get to and maintain that level of bliss which is the hallmark of a good connected meditative state.

Historically, yoga was done to calm the body.  That was the original purpose of yoga; preparation for meditation, where the real work of life is done.  Some sort of physical movement can help prior to sitting for the practice of meditation but it depends on the individual’s needs.  It is usually a good idea to move a bit and stretch a bit before sitting down; but often times, it is in the early stages of meditation that suddenly there is a tug from parts of us that we didn’t realize were in some level of distress; which distract us from getting to that blissful state and making a good connection to the Spirit Realm.  These area of distress are resistant to your process because they are trying to communicate with you.

We can assist these resistant areas through allowing enough time for our practice, (extra time beyond what you plan to be in the actual state of bliss), to calm the body.  Taking our time muting the body is the key to a successful state of bliss and connection.  In other words we often try to force our body’s ailing areas to hush when in fact they need soothing before they will quiet themselves and allow you to proceed to the connection that will provide them with deeper healing. We must first have a framework to understand how and why it is possible to quiet these areas without excess fanfare.

Acceptance is the key.  Acceptance is a process of allowing. When we allow these resistant areas, we open to the state of love.  When we learn to accept what is by allowing it to be in the state it is in, then a vibration of neutrality is introduced and resolution can begin. We cannot jump from seeing a problem to resolution without this place of allowing.   When we learn to accept what is within us or in our day to day lives, then we learn how live in a state of true, unconditional love.  Then we not only KNOW love we LIVE the vibration of love.

The following is how we learn to accept the area of our body which is ailing and distracting us from our practice of meditation.

Once you have begun the process of quieting the mind and the body, as soon as you feel the area in a disquieted state, begin to breathe from that area.  As you breathe from there, allow the area to expand and envision a comforting such as cradling the area as you would an infant.  Focus, as you breathe,  on the feeling of the comfort which comes from the vision that comes to you as a way to comfort the area.  Feel that area soften as the feeling of comfort becomes the vibration of that area that was once in disquiet.  Gently move on by continuing the process you have learned to mute/still the body.  As you reach another area that is distracting you, do the same thing.  Before you know it your body will have the physical peace it needs to allow you to move into the love, joy, freedom and bliss that allows you to connect and receive healing.

The practice of this process to free the body’s unrest, will deepen as you attempt it.  Allow your unique visions of how to quiet the body.  My suggestion of cradling the area as you would an infant in the crook  of your arm, is only one way, there are countless ways that your energy system will bring to you as you breathe into the area.

Those beginners who might still struggle with a particular area may need assistance with the Self-Healing Technique I teach and/or a session with me of ESRT(C).  However, know that this area of yourself is merely trying to communicate to and with you and it WILL be resolved as you increasing give it voice via these techniques.
