The absence of light for the human eye to see is what we have come to know as darkness in the most basic sense. We see black paper as black because it absorbs all colors. White paper is white because it reflects all colors.
Black isn’t a primary, secondary, or tertiary color. Black isn’t on the color wheel because it isn’t considered a color. It’s all colors. Or rather, the absorption of all colors. Black absorbs all light in the color spectrum. This means that Black is literally ALL COLORS.
In American culture and religion in America black has become associated with death, evil and other negatives. By association, black and darkness have become synonymous with evil or bad things. Did you know that in other countries, death and bad things are associated with white?
“It’s all about perception and perspective.”
What We’ve Been Taught
In the world of Lightworkers/Energy Healers and healers in general, there are often thoughts or discussions about dark attachments or making sure you are protected from darkness or evil energy or demons. Hollywood and countless literary sources have amplified these ideals.
In order to create a painting that is satisfying to look at and reflects the subject of the piece well, the artist must know how to manipulate light and dark shadows in the painting. How well an artist can do this is determined by how well they both visually and perceptively can see light and dark in the subject.
Most humans have been taught to fear the dark as we live on earth where it rotates every 24 hours toward and away from the sun. Because the structures, rods and cones, in our eyes limit our vision during those hours when where we live is away from the sun’s light, we feel vulnerable when we cannot see. There are animals that can see in the dark. The nocturnal ones. Our parents and society taught us, mostly without realizing it, that when we feel vulnerable we should be afraid. So darkness has become associated with fear. That which we cannot see—the unseen worlds—have likewise become associated with bad, negative and fearful feelings.
Fear-Based Darkness Is An Illusion
Darkness associated with fear and ‘bad energy’ is an illusion. Yes, we can feel vulnerable when our 5 senses are limited, but we have other senses that have either been downplayed or forgotten all together. If we access, accept and practice using our 6th (and beyond) senses, we feel less vulnerable and afraid of the “dark”.
Religion’s texts from 2000 or more years ago which speak of demons, devils and so on were designed that way for control purposes. The population in 500 AD was uneducated and unconscious and the few that had connection to Source energy, from whence we all have come, took advantage of the masses’ unawareness. Unfortunately, these few were those who also managed to get into positions of power such as religious leaders, kings and other heads of state.
Tuning Up Our Ultra-Sensory Perception
Our other senses give us more information than the basic five. When we combine sight, sound, smell, touch and taste with intuition, telepathy, knowing, clairsentience, clairaudience and clairvoyance, we have a powerhouse of information with which to sort and resolve any challenge or conflict facing us. When we learn that to be clairvoyant and the other “clairs” are part of the natural sensory skill set, then suddenly the conditioned response of “fearing darkness” is no longer at issue. This is our ultimate protection from “darkness”.
Our intuition (an unseen sensory ability) and other ways we sense and know things because they are not measurable have not been encouraged for development or understanding. These are part of our ability to “see”, especially in the darkness. We can now redefine darkness as those things, ideas, feelings and such, which are unclear, confusing and for which we have no understanding or association in our lives thus far.
Open Up to Source Energies
Literature from centuries ago to now, “ghost” stories, poems (Little orphan Annie) and other tales told from parent or minister to children have been passed down through the ages. Then enter Hollywood. Wow. Then evil, demons, monsters became visual and larger than life. But if we use the definition of darkness written above then the monster symbols created by someone’s imagination begin to lose their impact on our psyche and lives.
Our visual sense has been overdeveloped and emphasized to make our brains not be able to see with our perception and third eye sense and vision. These other visual capabilities, such as clairvoyance are abilities of our consciousness, not our limited bodies and brains. As we merge more with our Higher Selves and become them, these sensory skills will manifest more and more. Our “higher self” is part of our consciousness and as such it is natural to then begin to see with higher sight using higher perceptive abilities such as clairvoyance.
As Chinese Medical theory teaches, yin eventually becomes yang and yang becomes yin; everything starts as light. Light can become dark if encouraged by any number of perceptions. Darkness/fear perception is created from diminished perception or being taught and conditioned that something, someone can harm you, attach to you. Belief systems are harder than titanium. If you are taught, for example, that boys are better than girls (this has been a huge untruth taught in most cultures for centuries) and it’s so “inside your cells” that you don’t even know you are living from it, that is a belief system perception that is “dark”. It might not have been started by you and you might not consciously believe it, but you might be making choices from it. These belief systems go back generations and end up guiding or as the case actually is—misguiding—us to live from and literally have us blind to thoughts about what, we as a girl, can do with our lives.
A Powerful New Paradigm
Our perspective and belief system history is written in our epigenetics. If your ancestral history includes being particularly enraptured with Catholicism, for instance, which has many beliefs, like:
- Women are inferior
- Sex is bad unless it’s for procreation
- Evil and the devil are out to get you
Even if you, in your life have never subscribed to religious beliefs, it can and usually does have an impact upon whether you believe, deep down, that dark/evil/devil can “get you”. It can impact how free you are sexually or your attitude, albeit subconscious, about women. It would come out in arguments with spouses over money or other day to day life issues. But what is underneath these concepts of evil is actually a fear designed to control — THAT IS ALL. This is how an unconscious, and uneducated population 2000 years ago was conditioned to fear those in authority for their advantage.
Dark and light as colors only have the meaning we give to them. When we are depressed—we are “dark”. Was this a conditioned state from genetics or did it start with an event which creates a change that you were taught to be sad about? Depression comes from a failure to transform ourselves. Our entire society for at least several hundreds of years has been set up to help us fail and not reach our potential because it was profitable for the few at the top. This is why so many people have anxiety and depression even if they haven’t been diagnosed and manage it with legal drugs like alcohol or coffee or sugar. What if we lived from a continuum that everything is Light and any change is merely a transition from one vibration to another and there is no bad change or transition? What if heartbreak over not knowing who we are and what our potential could be is at the root of all this depression because the narrative has set us up to ignore who we are as heart-centered beings? What if this is the true darkness that has been conditioned into all of us, especially those 30 and under? To focus on transforming our thoughts, beliefs and recognizing that when we do we will meet our potential in the coming years, is the solution to turning the Light and living that “only imagined” paradise life.
We have, for thousands of years, been taught to fear and have been taught that this is dark or bad. It’s all perception. When we see an animal “afraid” they are acting on their instinct that something threatens them. That isn’t bad. It’s just part of survival. We also don’t have to call it fear. We can call it instinct to get out of the way so the body isn’t harmed. Fear is just like a disease. It can be passed down generation to generation because of how those previous generations believed and then behaved.
To end our need to believe that we can be attached with darkness or taken over by dark forces, we first need to believe that there are no victims. This means if something you might perceive as “bad” happens to you, then you attracted it from some mirror inside you to help you rid yourself of that button/trigger. It’s no worse than what we see with animals living in the wild. It’s ruthless. We must be able to take responsibility for what we create even if it is our ancestors that started the fire. We have been misguided to believe that the past is the past and it’s over. The past can be your lifetime or your ancestor’s. But if there is an issue, physical-health, relationship, career, that is the past living in the present. Find the link, release it and make better choices in the present.
Can you be “possessed” by a belief?
Absolutely. Especially if that belief is so deep in your tissues that it creates ways of thinking, acting and choice making. This is what it means to be possessed. You can’t see through it because you are in it. Eventually with enough reflection and desire to change, you will rise above it and see what is happening and get some help to clear the cycle both in body and mind. I recommend help with this via 5 Element Acupuncture, a type of acupuncture that can clear the body’s hold on generational patterns.
It’s about perception. Not just right now but about those beliefs which are running you from your subconscious and especially cellular memory. We all need help with “seeing” these “dark” spots because they are hidden from us. We live them from behind the glasses.
We can’t always see ourselves. Asking for help, not rescuing, gets us out of our hidden blind spots we have come to over-emphasize as “dark” or evil. This is the only evil and darkness, everything else is a story we have been told…
Let it go.
